RANCHMAN’S COOKHOUSE & DANCEHALL
Established April 28, 1972For over 52 years, Ranchman’s Cookhouse & Dancehall has proudly delivered authentic Calgary-style western hospitality. As the official hospitality partner of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, we are known as Rodeo’s #1 Spot—a true home away from home for professional rodeo cowboys.
Ranchman’s offers live entertainment every Friday and Saturday, featuring some of Alberta’s top country bands. Weekly programming also includes “Local Vocals” Thursdays, an acoustic showcase of up-and-coming Canadian talent, and Canada’s original Saturday afternoon jam, hosted by Chuck McEwen.
Each year, we proudly host the Ranchman’s Rising Star Talent Contest in partnership with Country Thunder Alberta and Country 105 FM. The winner earns an opening slot on the Country Thunder Alberta main stage, a one-song professional recording, and national distribution.
Under new ownership in recent years, Ranchman’s has been curating monthly concert events featuring some of the biggest names in Canadian and international country music, including Colter Wall, Zach Top, Randall King, Nate Smith, Drake Milligan, Doc Walker (with Jason McCoy and Michelle Wright), Tyler Joe Miller, Shawn Austin, Andrew Hyatt, Gord Bamford, and Aaron Goodvin.
We also host Sunday dinner shows featuring acclaimed performances such as Russell DeCarle (formerly of Prairie Oyster), Lisa Brokop’s Tribute to Patsy Cline, and The Gift – A Tribute to the Music of Ian Tyson.
Our stage is steeped in country music history. In the 1970s, CBC’s “The Wayne Vold Show” brought legendary acts like Tammy Wynette, Boxcar Willie, Ronnie Milsap, and Kenny Rogers to Ranchman’s. Ian Tyson was a regular performer during his honky-tonk era. In 1989, Toby Keith graced our stage just before releasing “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” In the late ’80s and early ’90s, Ranchman’s helped tour artists like Clay Walker, Neal McCoy, Sons of the Desert, and Ricochet throughout Alberta’s A-circuit club scene.
Over the years, our stage has hosted an impressive roster of country superstars, including Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tanya Tucker, Dan + Shay, Lonestar, and many more. Shania Twain even launched her “The Woman in Me” CD release party at Ranchman’s.
Ranchman’s has been awarded 13 Canadian Country Music Association “Country Club of the Year” titles, along with multiple Alberta Country Music Association “Club of the Year” awards. We proudly offer country dance lessons four nights a week, with instruction in two-step, west coast swing, and line dancing—taught by our in-house world champion dance instructors.
Our venue has also made its mark on the big screen, serving as the film location for Disney’s “Cool Runnings” (1988 Calgary Olympics), Ang Lee’s Academy Award-winning “Brokeback Mountain,” and the recent TV series “The Ride.”
The walls of Ranchman’s are adorned with a living museum of country music and rodeo history, featuring rare photographs, memorabilia, and tributes to the legends who shaped our industry.
We invite you to dust off your boots, tip your hat, and experience the legacy of Ranchman’s Cookhouse & Dancehall—Canada’s Greatest Honky-Tonk.
